Evo 6 RSII Specification
The base car is an Evo 6 RS II - basically an RS with the nice bits, i.e. central locking and electric windows - the car was supplied with air conditioning which was removed (17kg worth). She has the GSR gearbox so good for motorway driving (who needs an RS box with over 400bhp anyway??!), but she retains the RS rear diff for strength and drivability
In the year i owned her i did a fair bit including ;
Replacing the engine for a 13,000 mile old Evo 260 unit - the same as fitted to Evo 8 MR's.
Replaced the turbo with a fresh Evo 9 80 series unit (with 3,000 miles use)
Had the head gas flowed.
Fitted a new Hybrid Mk.II Uprated Intercooler.
Fitted a new fuel filler neck.
Fitted a HID headlamp conversion.
Tidied all the wiring up behind the dash (i.e soldered all the joints etc.).
Cleaned up the underside inc. undersealing and waxoiled all cavities.
Cleaned up the inner arches and painted them in white to suit bodywork.
All work was based on reliability, however the power output was amazing -;
1.45 bar boost = 410bhp / 370 ftlb
1.7 bar boost = 435bhp / 410 ftlb
Whilst out in Germany on the autobahn i decided to open her up, i cannot get over the way she pulled all the way to the limiter in top gear; most cars start to slow down as the speed climbs - not this baby Truly gobsmaking
Suffice to say she didnt miss a beat on the whole trip either, including 8 laps of the Nurburgring, well it would have been rude not to .... I actually ran on low boost to keep temperatures down whilst on track, and in all honesty, its the fasted car i've driven around the Nurburgring.
